La Sportiva Men's Karakorum Mountaineering/ Hiking Boots are ideal boots for mountaineering, carrying gear in rocky terrain, and forest elevation. These boots have excellent traction with an 8 rating. The traction would be 9 or 10 with more flexibility in the boot. The boot has a half steel shank and is available in trapezoid fit. They don't offer wide sizes and run narrow. The boots breathe well, but they don't have insulation. It is necessary to wear good socks to make them warm. The boots have a 7 inch height and require time to break in. Some customers found them to be stiff. The boots fit similarly to Nepal boots that La Sportiva produced 20 years ago, but with more toe flexibility. They are sturdy boots made with thick leather that needs to wear in to soften up with good toe room and reasonably snug heel. The lacing system is fantastic, and the boots don't have a steel or carbon safety toe. The precise size is essential as some customers found they needed to go up a size. Some customers found the quality to be poor as the shoe lace D rings popped out quickly.
