Answer: Not sure exactly why you are asking this question. The 31.8 is only in the middle where it mounts to your neck. The bar ends are a standard 22.2 OD. So all standard round components work with it. Normal size bar ends caps etc. -

Answer: Yes, but please choose the right size. -

Will these hold up to downhill mountain biking?
Answer: Don't think they will survive a jump trail. but I have them on a bike that is mostly on the road and light trails. And at 700mm, I'm 5'8 and I got 760mm on another bike for harder trail riding.
