However, buyers beware that this meter appeared to be off by a wide margin, oscillating in slow mode, and giving inconsistent readings. Some complain that readings are grossly inaccurate, and Pyle does not guarantee calibration but states only that it can be calibrated. Moreover, the device often cannot register above 91dB even when expected to register at around 130dB, making it unusable in high noise environments where a sound meter is most critical. Although some buyers prefer to use it to balance speaker levels in 5.1.2 home theater systems, most suggest that accuracy is low, and one should compare readings with other meters in the same environment.
