The Biodude offers a range of substrates and soil inoculants for use in terrariums. Customers have inquired about the amount of substrate and sphagnum moss to use, how much water to pour in, and how often to change the substrate. The Biodude recommends using their 6qt Hydrogrow with 2-3 bags to achieve a 1-2" layer. They recommend pouring water in for about 5-6 seconds to start moisture content and mixing thoroughly. If Terra Fauna is used, substrate should be changed out every 2-3 weeks, but the soil inoculant Bioshot can make the soil self-sustaining. To create air pockets and spread moisture, they recommend mixing one 6qt bag of Spag Moss throughout the substrate. There are no bugs or pests in the substrates.
